Baylor Lodge No. 125
Restoration Project
PO Box 2350
Brenham, TX 77834
In 2012 we began this project to restore the Masonic Lodge founded by Judge R. E. B. Baylor in Gay Hill, Texas nearby his home of Holly Oaks, just a handful of miles west of the school named for him in Independence, Texas.
In 2013 our project was taken up by the Grand Lodge of Texas and we worked diligently to achieve the restoration of this historic lodge to active Masonic and community work. Most Worshipful Walter Rogers, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Texas, however did not see fit to restore the charter of the Baylor Lodge.
Our project group became the "Friends of Baylor Masonic Lodge at Independence" (routinely shortened to Friends of Baylor Masonic Lodge) and continued to occasionally meet for fellowship, community support, historical preservation, education, from time to time.
It is hoped that at a future time interest will be strong enough to continue endeavors to restore Baylor Lodge No. 125 to work when the time is opportune.
